battlefield-4-beta-windowsEvery 2 years, EA releases a new Battlefield title. Back in 2013 we got Battlefield 4, and earlier this year we were treated to Battlefield Hardline. By right this means that it should be in 2017 that we can expect the next Battlefield title, right? Especially after EA stated that they weren’t planning on annualizing its Battlefield releases. Wrong.

It looks like developer DICE has recently confirmed that the next Battlefield title is in the works. This is according to a recent tweet by DICE development director Dan Vaderlind in which he wrote, “Now that we’ve shipped Battlefront and a part of the team continues to work on it, I am moving on to another project, the next Battlefield.”

As for its release date, Vaderlind did not confirm that it will be released in 2016. In fact that date was actually confirmed in the middle of 2015 by EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen where he stated that a new Battlefield game was planned for 2016. Unfortunately we have no specific release dates to look forward to, so we guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for this one.

However in terms of content, it seems that 2016’s Battlefield will be returning to its more military roots, versus this year’s Hardline release which seemed to be more urban focused and where it was more like a cops and robbers scenario, which we guess was fun and different, but in case you’re a traditionalist, 2016’s Battlefield could be worth looking forward to.
