super mario runLast we heard, which was back in December 2016, Nintendo’s Super Mario Run was downloaded 50 million times. Now according to a tweet by Bloomberg reporter Yuji Nakamura, it has been revealed that the game has since been downloaded 78 million times, and that out of all those downloads, 5% paid for the full version of the game.

This works out to be around 3.9 million times the full version of the game has been paid for which when you think about the overall number of downloads isn’t actually that much. In case you’re unfamiliar, Super Mario Run is a free-to-play game that will let you play the first three levels of the game, after which you need to pay $10 if you want to unlock the rest of the levels and features of the game.

Reviews of the game are mixed with some praising the gameplay, while others feel like it’s a hobbled version of Mario, but if there’s one thing many can agree on it is that the $10 price to unlock the game is rather steep for what you get. That being said, Super Mario Run is currently only available on iOS.

However Nintendo did confirm earlier this month that the game will be released on Android devices this coming March, so it will be interesting to see if it could fare better amongst the Android crowd.
