While investors and critics were, well, critical of the Nintendo Switch when it was first announced, we’re pretty sure their tune has since changed as it seems like Nintendo is having a great year. The success of the Switch has also prompted some big name developers and publishers to come on board, such as Square Enix.

The company had previously stated their plans for the Switch, where they plan to “aggressively” pursue development for the console, and the company’s latest financial results briefing pretty much reaffirms their commitment (via Gematsu). According to the company, “We intend to be proactive in our development efforts given that it’s a platform that is well suited to the mid-sized titles at which we excel.”

So far Square Enix has only announced one game for the Nintendo Switch which comes in the form of the Lost Sphear and is expected to be released in 2018. Previously there was some excitement about the possibility of Square Enix porting Final Fantasy XV over, but that was quickly shot down.

We’re not sure what other titles the company has planned for the Switch, but they do seem to be rather enthusiastic with regards to the platform, so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see, although there are some titles launched on the Nintendo DS platform that we wouldn’t mind seeing arrive for the Switch as well.
