It is safe to say that Spotify is currently leading the way in the music streaming scene. Now according to the latest figures offered up by the company, they are claiming that their streaming platform is now home to about 200 million monthly active users. They are also boasting that they have about 87 million Premium subscribers which is what we heard a couple of months ago.

The 200 million user count is actually up by about 9 million, where back in November 2018, the company revealed that they had about 191 million active users, which means that it has increased by 9 million since then. This is a very impressive feat that has allowed the company to stay ahead of the competition.

In fact they seem to be very much ahead of the competition because in December last year, Apple Music was reported to be playing home to more than 56 million subscribers. We’re not sure what that breakdown is, and how many of those 56 million are actual paying subscribers and how many are taking part in the free three-month trial.

However regardless of the breakdown, Spotify’s 200 million active subscribers and 87 million paid subscribers still puts them very much ahead of what Apple has got. Whether or not they’ll be able to maintain that lead remains to be seen.
