We’ve seen how in the past the Apple Watch has managed to help alert the wearer to impending heart attacks. Now according to a report from ABC 11 News (via 9to5Mac), the Apple Watch has managed to potentially save the life of a nurse by the name of Beth Stamps by alerting her to an abnormally high heart rate.

The report claims that Stamps was at a patient’s house when she felt like she had just finished running a marathon, but yet despite trying to relax, she could not get her heart rate to drop. Her heart rate while she was standing still was at 177 BPM which was certainly not normal, and she was sent to the hospital where doctors ending up running a series of tests over the course of two days.

She was eventually diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia which she is being treated with medication right now. According to Stamps, she said she had experienced bouts of fast heart rates in the past, but it has always managed to subside, but this particular incident and the alert from her Apple Watch helped with her decision to seek medical attention which could have potentially saved her life.

The Apple Watch is loaded with features that have the potential to save lives. Apart from the heart rate monitor, we have heard how the ECG feature and the fall detection feature have saved lives in the past.
