If the idea of being able to stream your Spotify playlists through speakers like those made by Sonos, Bose, or any Alexa-powered speaker, you might not have been able to unless you’re a Spotify Premium user. However, the good news is that Spotify has since announced that they will now allow streaming for its free users as well.

According to Spotify, “Free users around the world can also set up Spotify Connect with their Sonos speakers directly from the Spotify app. Spotify Connect works with all Sonos speakers, including the new Sonos Move, a durable, battery-powered smart speaker for great sound indoors, outdoors, and on the go.”

This means that if you want to stream playlists like Today’s Top Hits or Discover Weekly, you will be able to do so even as a free user. Spotify notes, “Incorporating Spotify into these devices is all part of our goal to create a truly frictionless experience for our users. Play from your phone, transition to your smart speaker, back to the phone, over to the car—with just a tap or the sound of your voice.”

So if you’re a free Spotify user and own any of the devices mentioned above, then this could be a feature worth checking out.
