Word on the street is that Apple plans on launching a pair of high-end headphones. We’re not sure what kind of features the headphones will have, but according to AppleInsider, they’ve come across a patent which suggests that one of the possible features of the headphones are touch gesture controls.

This would be similar to how other headphones, such as those from Sony, would work, where users could tap on the earcups, swipe on it, and it will perform certain functions. This includes media playback, volume control, and so on. However, in addition to touch gesture controls, the patent also suggests that the headphones could be smart enough where it can tell how front or back the headband is sitting on the wearer’s head.

It is an interesting patent, although whether or not these features will find their way into the headphones remains to be seen. Apple has steadily been getting more interested in producing their own audio equipment. While the company does own Beats, the Beats headphone lineup hasn’t been updated with new products for a while.

Instead, we’ve seen Apple push out products like the AirPods, the AirPods Pro, and now if the rumors are to be believed, a pair of headphones. Take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll have more details in the near future.
