One of the main differences between Apple Music and Tidal is that the latter is focused more on higher quality streams, which for some actually matters, while for others, they can’t really tell the difference. However, if you wished that Apple Music had a similar feature, you could actually be in luck.

This is because according to the iOS 14.6 beta, the folks at 9to5Mac have discovered that Apple could be working on a new HiFi plan. This is according to references made in the beta to “Dolby Atmos”, “Dolby Audio”, and “Lossless”, which has been speculated to mean that there could be a new tier of Apple Music that could offer higher quality streams.

Apart from Tidal, Apple Music’s rival Spotify has also recently launched their own HiFi lossless stream, so it doesn’t really come as a surprise that Apple could launch something similar. Unfortunately, not much else is known about this alleged HiFi tier or how much Apple could charge customers who might prefer it. Right now, Apple Music is charging customers $9.99 a month for the standard plan. Spotify’s HiFi plan is priced at $14.99, so there is a chance that Apple Music’s HiFi tier could also be priced somewhere around that range.

There’s also no word on when the new tier will be launched, but with WWDC 2021 coming up, perhaps we’ll learn more about it then.
