Apple’s HomePod, for those unfamiliar, is powered by tvOS, the same operating system that powers the Apple TV. However, could Apple be thinking about giving the HomePod its own platform? According to a job listing spotted by developer Javier Lacort, that could very well be the case.

According to the job listing, it calls for a Senior iOS Engineer for Apple Music. The description reads, “You’ll get to work with system engineers across Apple, learning the inner-workings of iOS, watchOS, tvOS and homeOS, and optimizing your code for performance in ways only Apple can. Come join our team and make a real difference for music lovers worldwide.”

The description has since been updated where “homeOS” has been removed and replaced with HomePod. We’re not sure if the reference to homeOS was made in error or if it was something Apple wasn’t ready to reveal just yet. We have heard rumors that Apple could be developing some interesting HomePod models, like one that would combine the HomePod and Apple TV.

We’ve also heard that there could be a model with a display, and another with a robotic arm. Assuming there are more models in the works, it is possible that Apple would want to create a more dedicated platform for it rather than sharing tvOS, but we won’t know for sure until it has been announced. WWDC is kicking off next week so hopefully we’ll have more details then.
