The last time Apple updated the iPad Air series, they gave it a look that was more in line with the iPad Pro. Now it seems that not only will it share a similar design externally, but it could be getting some upgrades that would make it more Pro-like, or at least that’s what a new report from Macotakara is claiming.

According to the report, they claim that the next iPad Air refresh is expected to borrow some features from the 11-inch iPad Pro. This is expected to include an upgrade to the camera system where the new iPad Air could sport a dual lens design. Under the hood, the new iPad Air is also rumored to be using the A15 chipset which will most likely debut in the 2021 iPhones.

There is also mention of 5G as one of the cellular connectivity options. The report also notes that LiDAR may or may not be a feature in the tablet. Apple debuted LiDAR in the 2020 iPad Pro and the newer iPhone 12 models, but we haven’t seen it used in other devices just yet, so maybe the iPad Air refresh could be next.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but Apple is expected to introduce new iPad refreshes later this year. We have been hearing rumors of a refreshed iPad mini so it is possible that a new iPad Air could debut alongside it.
