candice-apple-watchOver the past couple of years, we’ve seen Apple hire executives from various fashion houses and brands, like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and TAG Heuer just to name a few. All of these hires were said to be related to Apple’s upcoming Apple Watch as the company plans to position it as a fashion accessory rather than just another gadget, which is what most smartwatches feel like at the moment.

So far it looks like Apple’s plans are on track as the Self Magazine in the US has recently announced that their March issue will feature cover girl Candice Swanepoel who will be sporting the Apple Watch, as you can see in the photo above. According to the magazine, “Considering Swanepoel’s athletic prowess, it was an ideal accessory for her sporty cover shoot. She told SELF, “I’m an athlete. I use every single muscle, especially my core and arms, when I pose. It’s so important for me to feel strong!”

From the photo alone, it certainly looks like the Apple Watch feels right at home as a fashion accessory, and we can only imagine the way Apple will be marketing the higher-end Apple Watch Edition models which are said to be positioned on the same level as luxury watches. The Apple Watch is expected to begin shipping in April, according to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.

The upcoming wearable is certainly a make or break moment for the company as it is an entirely new product category they are getting into, and one that is pretty competitive at the moment, thanks to the slew of smartwatches we’ve seen from various OEMs.
