If there is a criticism that can be made about the new 12-inch Retina MacBook is Apple’s decision to do away with all the ports, save for a USB Type-C connector which will act as the port to power the laptop and port to connect external devices like flash drives, peripherals, and more.

It does seem to be rather inconvenient but if you love the form factor but can’t give up your ports, here’s a compromise for you: Branch. Branch is a Kickstarter project for a form fitted USB Type-C hub for your new MacBook. What it does is that it plugs into the Type-C port and from there, it will give users the ability to plug additional devices.

Branch will feature extra ports in the form of 2x USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, a Mini Display port, and if you don’t mind forking out a bit more money, there is an option to have it include 64GB of additional storage as well. It will also be form fitting meaning that unlike other options out there, it will fit snugly with your MacBook so you can leave it plugged in without having to worry about it dangling.

Of course we imagine that one day such accessories will no longer be needed once more OEMs get on board with Type-C, but for now if you would love the additional ports, hit up the Kickstarter page to pledge your support!
