IKEA has definitely come a long way from being just a mere furniture maker. The company, probably best-known for its affordable home furnishings, has definitely been keeping up with the times and technology and have since expanded their offerings to include smart light bulbs which are cheaper than some of the competition out there.

That being said for those who are looking to furnish their homes with IKEA’s smart bulbs, you might be interested to learn that the company’s Tradfri series of smart bulb accessories will now be compatible with Apple’s HomeKit. The company has been rolling out HomeKit support for its smart accessories, but if you’re using (or planning to use) the Tradfri range, then this update should definitely be worth checking out.

Getting your Tradfri devices connected with the Home app is as simple as updating the Tradfri app from IKEA via the iTunes App Store, after which you should be able to control them via the Home app or using Siri. Of course all of this will require users to own the Tradfri gateway hub, which hopefully you would have bought already.

With HomeKit integration, mixing and matching various smart home appliances and gadgets is a lot easier, whereas in the past companies would try to lock users in with their own platforms and apps.
