One of the new products that Apple announced last year came in the form of the AirPower wireless charging mat. Based on photos, the wireless charging mat would allow users to charge devices like the iPhone, the Apple Watch, and also the AirPods, although the latter would require a separate wireless charging case.

Now thanks to the latest beta of iOS 12, it looks like the wireless charging case for the AirPods have been revealed. In terms of design, they look identical to the current case. However the images spotted in the beta reveal the indicator lights of the case to show that it is either charging or has low power (amber light), or fully charged where the indicator shows a green light.

At the moment it is unclear as to how Apple plans on selling these cases. There is some debate as to whether they will be bundled with the new AirPods, or if they will be sold as a separate accessory that users will have to buy, although we imagine that many would find this a bit redundant if they already have a case for the AirPods.

The accessory and the AirPower charging mat were initially rumored for a launch in March but that clearly has not happened. Instead many believe that the wireless charging accessories will most likely be launched in September alongside Apple’s new iPhones.
