One of the new features of iOS 12 is the introduction of a new app called Siri Shortcuts. Essentially this is similar to Google Assistant’s Routines which allows users to create custom shortcuts for certain tasks that can be activated with a spoke phrase. We expect that most of iOS’ native features will be supported, but what about third-party support?

The good news is that if you are a Philips Hue user, then it seems that Siri Shortcuts will be supported this coming fall. This is according to a report from iCulture (via AppleInsider) in which during Philips’ IFA 2018 presentation, the company confirmed that Philips Hue will support Siri Shortcuts this coming fall which is when the iOS 12 update is expected to be released.

Given that Philips already supports HomeKit with its Hue system, we suppose the support for Siri Shortcuts doesn’t come as a surprise. We expect that this should be even more handy for those who own the HomePod speaker system, where users can launch multiple actions with a single command, such as turn on Apple Music and dim the lights for a relaxing setting.

Philips probably won’t be the only third-party to support Siri Shortcuts and we expect that moving forwards, we should see more third-party integration.
