Given that Bixby is Samsung’s digital assistant, it is only natural that the company would want to use it in all of its smart products. However at the same time, it’s hard to deny how the competition has them beat, such as Google Assistant in which a recent test by Loup Ventures found it to be the most accurate.

That being said if you love Samsung’s display tech but not necessarily it’s digital assistant efforts, then you’ll be pleased to learn that a report from Variety claims that come 2019, Samsung’s smart TVs are expected to start using Google Assistant in addition to Bixby. This means that users will have a choice of using Google Assistant or Bixby, depending on their personal preference.

Presumably the integration with Google Assistant also means that certain features that Google Assistant is known for and can do will be applicable to Samsung TVs as well, such as being able to control it using devices like Google Home and the likes. So far Bixby has remained closed off to outside developers, which is why adoption isn’t quite as high compared to Alexa or Google Assistant devices.

Samsung states that they plan to eventually open it up come 2019 but given how competitive of a market it is, Samsung definitely has their work cut out for them.
