According to the rumors that have persisted for years, word on the street has it that Apple could be working on a pair of augmented reality (AR) glasses, where some predict that the device could actually be making its way into the market in 2020. It’s starting to look like that could be the case.

This is according to code found within the iOS 13 beta by MacRumors, where based on what they have found, there is an app called “STARTester” that can switch in and out of a head-mounted mode. There is also reference made to a device codenamed “Garta”, which is believed to be the headset that Apple is developing.

Now, make what you will of this discovery. After all, companies do test out products from time to time without them ever making it to the market. The AirPower charging mat is actually a pretty good example of that, where despite there being signs of the product being developed, it was ultimately cancelled.

Plus, there was also a previous report from DigiTimes where the publication had claimed that Apple’s AR headset had been cancelled. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we imagine that we probably won’t be hearing about this headset anytime soon.
