A recent rumor suggested that Apple could be planning an event for the 16th of March. This event is said to host the launch of a couple of new Apple products, like the rumored AirTags tracking accessory as well as an update to the iPad Pro lineup that will see the tablet get a new mini LED display.
However, a tweet from reliable Apple insider Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims otherwise. According to Gurman, it seems that there won’t be an event held on the 16th of March. Gurman also later replied to another tweet where he said that the launch won’t be taking place on the 16th, suggesting that it could still be held in March but at a different date.

While we were skeptical of the initial rumor, we did say that a March event did seem likely. This is because Apple usually hosts an event in the early part of the year ahead of their mid-year WWDC event, so the question is really only a matter of when, rather than if. Plus, if you take a look at last year when the iPad Pro was refreshed, it also took place in March, meaning that a mid-March event didn’t seem too unlikely.
As to what date Apple will choose this year, that is really anyone’s guess at the moment, but for now, we suppose we should be prepared for the very real possibility that there won’t be a March 16th event.
