If you’re excited to get your hands on the brand new iPhone Duo, it looks like you might have to wait a bit more. The first foldable from Apple could have more limited availability at launch than initially expected, according to an estimate from analyst Jeff Pu; production constraints involving the device’s hinge may be affecting manufacturing capacity for Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
Pu estimates that iPhone Duo shipments in 2026 could fall from approximately 7 million to 6 million units. The reported reduction is reportedly related to the production capacity of the hinge, a critical component of the foldable design. The estimate does not indicate a change in expected consumer demand for the device.
As usual, Apple has not confirmed any production limitations or provided official shipment forecasts for the iPhone Duo. The company also does not disclose in advance how many units will be available by color, storage configuration, or other variants.
For now, Apple’s reported launch schedule remains unchanged. Pre-orders are expected to begin on October 16, followed by retail availability on October 23. If production constraints are affecting initial inventory, their impact should become clearer once pre-orders officially open.
The iPhone Duo is expected to feature a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR OLED internal display with a resolution of 2670 × 1878 pixels, up to a 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The external display is reportedly a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with a 2034 × 1398 resolution and similar refresh rate and brightness specifications.
Other reported specifications include Apple’s A20 Pro chip, up to 2TB of storage, dual rear cameras with 48MP main and ultrawide sensors, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port.
The device is also expected to include an Apple C2 modem, IP68 certification, USB-C Apple Pencil support, and an eSIM-only design. Its battery is reportedly rated for up to 24 hours, with 60W fast charging and MagSafe wireless charging.
The iPhone Duo is expected to run iOS 27 and use a foldable design measuring approximately 11.3 mm thick when closed.
