NEC recently announced their Lavie Pro Mobile laptop with a 13.3-inch display. If you’re after a laptop with a slightly larger display that also maintains its light and mobile form factor, then you might be interested to learn that NEC has also announced another laptop in the form of the NEC Lavie Vega.
The NEC LAVIE series of ultralight laptops dated back at least from 2010 and evolved with the technology of the day, including an Ultrabook version, but 2015 was a particular year because NEC started to partner with Lenovo to commercialize the LaVie Z13, and again today with the 1.85 Lbs 13.3-inch NEC LAVIE Pro Mobile.
#CEATEC2018 – One of the ways to verify someone’s identify and a way that is commonly used today is to ask for an ID card. The problem with such a system is that people might forget to bring their IDs, or IDs can be easily faked, and not to mention the time it takes for someone to take their ID out of their bags, wallets, or purses can slow down […]
[CEATEC 2016] Taking a final look in the mirror before heading out is something that we’re sure many of us are accustomed to doing. However in this day and age, simple tasks can always be enhanced and improved upon thanks to technology. Lenovo has an idea and that is with its LaVie smart mirror.
Fingerprint scanners are commonly used on mobile devices to verify the user’s identity but NEC has come up with a unique way to do that. The company has developed new technology that enables earbuds to verify your identity. The sound-capturing earbuds verify identity by looking at the way sound resonates in the ear canal. Since ear shape is unique to all of us, so are the acoustics, which is what […]
NEC Crop has said that by using eyeglasses and a smartwatch it’s capable of projecting an augmented reality keyboard on a user’s forearm. It’s called the ARmKeypad and it relies upon the glasses to show the augmented reality keys to the user, since glasses are essential to this, everyone expect the user will not be able to see the projected keyboard.
[CEATEC 2015] When you happen to live in a country like Japan where natural disasters are prone to happen – or at the very least, it has the tendency to actually be more frequent than in many other countries around the world, then it would pay to be prepared just in case of an emergency. Everyone should have his or her very own “Go bag”, or Grab Bag, it is […]
Laptops or notebooks that are really thin and light are the way to go – after all, it is not as though this particular trend is about to undergo a reverse anytime soon, not when you have tasted the goodness of an Ultrabook or something similar, like the MacBook Air, unless you really need a high powered computer on your travels. NEC of Japan has come up with their NEC […]
Japan-based NEC has just unveiled a monster of a UHD display – and I am referring to this 98” behemoth that is known as the NEC MultiSync X981UHD. Certainly having this to sit on your desk is overkill – not to mention your eyes are going to get blown away not too long after looking at it, but rather, the NEC MultiSync X981UHD’s existence will sport both features and functionality […]
NEC’s PaPeRo robot is one cute little bugger, and we have seen our fair share of him in action before in the past, where he has received periodic upgrades as time progresses. Perhaps it is time for a change in the PaPeRo line? NEC thinks so, too, by launching an initiative that they call the Papero Partner Program, which will enlist the help of research and business partners to assist […]
NEC Corp. has managed to come up with a system which is capable of accurately detecting the shapes and movements of people as well as objects, where it uses weak radio waves. Just how does it work? It relies on a sheet-like sensor as well as analysis technology that was specially developed by NEC, where it is capable of detecting the entrance and exit of a person – all without […]
[CEATEC 2013] NEC claims that their face recognition technology on display at the CEATEC 2013 showfloor happens to be the one with the highest precision rate in the world, although we have also seen Omron’s offering that does seem to work pretty well, guessing your age at the same time (the ladies might not like that so much, actually). Well, NEC’s face recognition technology is known as the NeoFace, where […]
[CEATEC 2013] How many of you out there want to be forensic scientists after watching TV series such as CSI (Crime Scene Investigation)? Isn’t it just wonderful that an insanely difficult case can be cracked in an hour on TV with commercials thrown into the mix, while in the real world, there are plenty of unsolved cases, or at least cases where the leads have turned so cold? Perhaps if […]
Sometime slightly after the middle of this month, we did report that NEC would be kissing goodbye to the smartphone market, and this is because NEC’s smartphone division did not perform well enough to warrant the justification of its existence. For those of you who recently picked up the NEC Terrain from AT&T, now is not the time to panic, as NEC has reassured customers that current smartphone models will […]
