According to recent rumors, Spotify is expected to introduce an updated free music listening tier, and now thanks to screenshots obtained by The Verge, we might have an idea of what kind of changes Spotify might be bringing. The screenshots are allegedly that of Spotify’s new user interface.

The report claims that Spotify has already begun rolling out these changes to select users, but it is unclear as to how widespread the rollout is, or if maybe it had already begun by accident. This is because Spotify is expected to host an event next week where they will unveil changes to the service, such as a new UI, new free listening tier, and possibly new hardware.

This means that it would be strange for Spotify to let the cat out of the bag a week earlier than expected. However assuming the screenshots are accurate, it does show what the new Spotify app looks like and we have to say that we are digging its new look. The app seems to have introduced more colors which makes it standout against the dark background.

The new UI also reveals new playlist options, which was one of the rumored features of the new free tier where users would have slightly more control over on-demand playback. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we should have all the official details next week at Spotify’s event.
