Following the announcement that Epic would be pulling the Infinity Blade trilogy from the iOS App Store, the company later announced that the Infinity Blade weapon would find a new home in Fortnite Battle Royale. It was Epic’s way of paying tribute to the franchise and it seemed like a rather fitting tribute.

Unfortunately it seems that they might not have balanced the item as well as they could have because according to many complaints from players, the item was too overpowered, which has since resulted in Epic removing it from the game. The item was considered a Mythic item which meant that only one sword could be available per game, and with players who wielded the sword getting massive boosts to their health and shield, health generation and movement speed, it seemed downright unfair to other players who did not have it.

In a post on Reddit, it seemed that Epic was initially planning to balance the item in a future patch, but perhaps it ended up being too OP to that extent Epic decided the best way to go about it was to remove it from the game until they could figure out how to fix it. We imagine that the removal will not be permanent and that following balancing done to the weapon, it should eventually find its way back to the game. When exactly this will be is anyone’s guess, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled.
