Unless you own the cellular version of the Apple Watch, there is a good chance that almost everything you do on the Apple Watch requires that it be tethered to your iPhone. While most of us typically travel with our phone and our smartwatch at the same time, this isn’t really an issue, but for those seeking a bit of independence, then this can be troublesome.

The good news is that if you’re a Pandora user, a report from Engadget has revealed that in an update to the app, it seems that Pandora for the Apple Watch will be gaining some independence where users will be able to stream songs from the watch itself even if there is no iPhone tethered to it.

All users need to do to stream song is a WiFi or cellular connection and they’ll be good to go, along with a Pandora premium subscription. Prior to this, users who wanted to stream songs from their Apple Watch through Pandora would have to download music onto the watch to stream it, although the downside is that given the storage size of the Apple Watch, this is probably not the best use of space.

The update seems to be rolling out in stages so if you don’t see the feature yet, not to worry as it should eventually find its way to you.
