Apple’s iPod is no more, and that has been the case for several years now. Given that the iPhone and iPad do a more than capable job of storing and playing music, especially with Apple Music, it made sense that Apple would no longer need the iPod. However if you do miss the iPod, then this concept case might be of interest to you.

Designed by Joyce Kang (via Cult of Mac), this is a case that you can slip your Apple Watch into (sans bands). Dubbed the Pod Case, as you can see in the image above, this transforms your Apple Watch into a pseudo iPod-like device. Note that this is a concept which means that it isn’t an actual product, so we are not sure how the physical controls on the exterior of the case will work with the Apple Watch.

There will also be cutouts on the sides and the back so that you can still access the watch’s physical controls and also the heart rate sensor, but therein lies the problem with the design. Since this design turns your Apple Watch into an iPod, we’re not sure how the heart rate sensor can be used (we suppose the cutout can still be used for charging).

Also given that the Apple Watch doesn’t have much of a storage capacity, chances are it won’t be able to fit your entire music library. However this is simply a concept which in terms of ideas and design is pretty cool, but in terms of functionality, we suppose there are some questions that need answering.
